2008 Beijing Olympics - Opening Ceremony

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Zhang Yimou was the director for the 2008 Beijing Olympics ceremonial opening. Below, in 10 parts, is the entire artistic portion of the ceremonial opening followed by the lighting of the torch in part 11. Enjoy the show... I sure did!!

As for the virtual walk, did you think it was real? OK, let's get this straight. This is my VIRTUAL walk along the Mississippi River. I live in Malaysia. I wake up every morning in Kuala Lumpur. I sit at a desk and work in Kuala Lumpur. And, I breathe the air in Kuala Lumpur (though that can sometimes be unwise). I keep track of my walking/jogging miles and use Google's gmap to chart my walk along the Mississippi River. I AM NOT REALLY WALKING ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER. I have to work for a living... unlike Forrest Gump.

I sure do! Welcome to my walking blog. I write about my virtual walk along the Mississippi River, the places I visit and the people I meet along the way. I also share some insights into my walking experiences. I'll introduce you to some great walking tunes and the latest gadgets to inspire and motivate you to keep moving. And like any walk or journey, I'll sometimes get lost along the way or detour into unexpected areas. Enjoy reading. But more importantly... put on a good pair of shoes and head out your front door. There's a big world out there waiting to be explored.
